Windows Vista, 7 & 8: PPTP

  1. Right-click on the network icon on the system tray and click Open Network and Sharing Center

  2. Click on Set up a new connection or network 

  3. Select Connect to workplace and click Next 

  4. Select Use my internet connection (VPN) 

  5. Insert a TotalVPN server address and click Next (Click here to get the server list)

    Insert a name for your VPN connection

    Select Allow other people to use this connection

    Select Don’t connect now, just set it up so I can connect later and click Next 

  6. Insert your Username and Password, please note that your username is different to your email address and can be found on the dashboard here.

    Check the Remember this password box and click Create 

  7. Click on Close 

  8. Click on Change adapter settings 

  9. Right-click on the newly setup VPN connection and click Properties 

  10. Click on the Security tab and select Point to Point Tunneling protocol (PPTP) 

  11. Select the encryption level required from the Data encryption drop down menu 

  12. Click on the Networking tab and uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks then click OK 

  13. Back on the Network Connections window double click on your new VPN connection 

  14. Check the Save this username and password box and insert your password again into the password field, then click Connect 

  15. A prompt will show displaying the verification and authentication steps before confirming the connection has been established. 

  16. You are now connected to VPN!
