Mac OSX: PPTP, IPSec & IKEv2

  1. Open System Preferences, (click the Apple icon in the top left and select System Preferences…

  2. Click on Network 

  3. Click on the plus icon in the bottom left to create your new VPN connection 

  4. On the interface drop down menu choose VPN then select PPTP, Cisco IPSec or IKEv2 from the VPN Type dropdown menu, name the VPN connection, then click Create (PPTP is best for speed, IPSec and IKEv2 are better encrypted and a wiser choice for security and privacy)

  5. Insert a TotalVPN server address in the Server Address field (Click here to get the server list)

    Insert your Username in Account Name field, please note that your username is different to your email address and can be found on the dashboard here.

    Check the Show VPN status in menu bar box

    Now click on Authentication 

  6. Input your VPN password in the Password field and click OK 

  7. Click on Advanced… 

  8. Check the Send all traffic over VPN connection box and click OK 

  9. Click Apply 

  10. Click on Connect 

  11. Connection to VPN will be established. On the menu bar a new icon will show which when clicked allows easy connection/disconnection to your new VPN config
